Resentment in BJP, Congress workers in Sadhaura, over ticket allocation

YAMUNANAGAR: Some BJP and Congress workers in Yamunanagar’s Sadhaura (reserved) constituency are up against the nominations of former MLA Balwant Singh and sitting MLA Renu Bala by the respective parties, as candidates for the upcoming state assembly elections.

BJP’s senior worker Data Ram of Sadhaura area got emotional while addressing his supporters and announced to leave the party.

Similarly, Congress’s worker Brijpal Chhappar on Saturday joined Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), along with his large number of supporters and termed the nomination of sitting Sadhaura MLA Renu Bala as ‘injustice’ with him. Chappar is likely to be fielded as a candidate by BSP from Sadhaura seat.

Addressing his supporters, Data Ram with tearful eyes said, “Today, I resign from all responsibilities of the party (BJP) with a heavy mind. We say goodbye to Bharatiya Janata Party. Whatever decision will be taken by our small group, we will follow the same. If the group asks to contest the election, then I will contest. If the group asks me to join some other party or support some other candidate, then I am ready for that also. I am grateful to the workers who attended the meeting on my call.”

On the other hand, Brijpal Chhappar addressing his supporters said, “Injustice has been done with us, not once. We worked hard for one man’s name (Hooda) in this area. Earlier, injustice was done with us in 2019 and now again. Now, we are not left with any more power to tolerate. We have lost everything for this party (Congress). I worked hard and even took loans to maintain the honour and flag of the party high, but a betrayal has been done with us.” The supporters of Brijpal announced that he should move forward to contest the election from Sadhaura.
