Rohtak: A speeding car, allegedly being used by two youths to film a social media reel, hit an auto-rickshaw and then rammed into the wall of a house at Kishangarh village near Meham on Wednesday, narrowly avoiding what residents said could have been a major tragedy.
According to locals, the car was being driven rashly on the Meham-Bhiwani road when the youths, allegedly performing stunts inside the vehicle, lost control. The car first hit an auto-rickshaw and then veered off the road and crashed into a house's wall.
House owner Vicky Numberdar said the impact could have proved fatal had it not been raining at the time. "Usually, five-seven people sit where the car crashed and children also play nearby. Because of the rain, everyone was indoors," he said.
After the crash, both occupants fled the spot, police said. The house owner alerted the police by dialling 112. Police are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the accused and ascertain the sequence of events. Preliminary information suggests the car had been taken on a self-drive rental arrangement. Further investigation is underway.
