RAm Rahim sentencing: Mount extra flights to Chandigarh, Amritsar and Jammu, DGCA tells airlines

NEW DELHI: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (

DGCA

) has asked airlines to run extra flights from Delhi to places like Amritsar, Chandigarh and Jammu where rail and road connectivity has suffered due to the Dera violence.

The regulator, which on Friday asked airlines to curb rise in airfares on these routes, is now seeing how more flights could be deployed.

“DGCA had cleared one additional flight on Delhi-Amritsar-Delhi route by Vistara for Sunday and one each additional flight on Delhi-Chandigarh-Delhi and Delhi-Amritsar-Delhi of Vistara for Monday. Air India has been requested to explore an extra flight on Monday on Delhi-Jammu-Delhi sector. Airlines have also been advised to keep a check on the airfares on these sectors,” said a senior DGCA official.

He said that at 3 pm on Sunday, the airfare range of economy class of various airlines on following routes (non-stop flights) for Monday flights was:

Delhi-Chandigarh-Delhi: Rs 4,338 to Rs 14,499

Mumbai-Chandigarh-Mumbai: Rs 8,100 to Rs 8,700

Delhi-Jaipur-Delhi: Rs 4,414 to Rs 6,700

Delhi-Amritsar-Delhi: Rs 4,339 to Rs 18,200

Delhi-Jammu-Delhi: Rs 13,600.
