Ram Navami celebrated, Rath Yatra today

CHANDIGARH: In the on-going five-day long festival organised by Chandigarh chapter of All India Sree Chaitanya Gaudiya Math, Sector 20, a seminar was held on the topic ‘Ideal Personality of Lord Sree Ram’ on Wednesday. Apart from this, devotees also celebrated 86th Appearance Day of its president Acharya Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaj.
Concluding the festival, a Rath Yatra will be organized on Thursday when the presiding deities of Math would take a ride on a chariot and move across the city.The procession would comprise band and sankirtan parties formed of devotees coming from other parts of India specially for the occasion.
ISKCON, Chandigarh celebrated Ram Navami on Wednesday at Hare Krishna Dham, Sector 36. Colourful and artistic flower decoration of the altar was the main attraction. The event was marked by Maha Abhishek of Sri Sri Sita Ram Lakshman where the deities were given ceremonial bath in ghee, milk, curd, honey and ten types of fruit juices.
A special boat was made for the deities in which they were seated on a palanquin and brought to the small lake made in the temple premises. Prasdam was distributed at the end of the celebrations.
