CHANDIGARH: Panjab University Student Union (PUSU) leaders after being divided into two factions on Wednesday held a meeting of both the groups and declared Sukhjit Singh Brar as the acting president. A meeting of the senior PUSU members was held whereby it was resolved that the controversy regarding recent appointment of acting party president.
The leaders appointed Sukhjit Singh Brar as working president of PUSU who will assist, report to Udey Wirring who is the party president.
It was also decided to deal strictly with those who try to create indiscipline in the party. Also, a supreme council of the party will be constituted that will have the authority to co-opt any number of members, to frame rules and regulations regarding appointments to the various posts and to bring to an amicable end the recent controversy. The party unanimously proposed Jaskaran Singh Brar's name, one of the founders of the party, as the chairman of the council.
The issue of appointing working president had lead to formation of two factions, which further led to a bloody-clash at Student Centre.
