Push for renewable energy: CREST to install solar power plants in city

Chandigarh: In a major push for renewable energy in the city, Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society (CREST) will be installing 2,400 kWp grid connected rooftop SPV power plants in different institutional buildings in the city. SPV of 150 kWp solar plant will be installed at Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Sector 26 at a cost of around Rs 76 lakh. It will be completed in 120 days.Another 250 kWp solar power plant will be installed at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26 at a cost of Rs 1.2 crore. It will made operational in 120 days. A number of rooftop solar power plants will be installed in government sites in Chandigarh. These will be of capacity ranging from 2kWp to 100kWp. Work on these will be completed in 365 days.In January, north India’s largest floating solar project of 2,000kWp was inaugurated at Sector 39 water works and a 500kWp floating solar project was inaugurated at Dhanas lake. The 2,000kWp floating solar power plant at Sector 39 water works was installed at a cost of Rs 11.70 crore. The 500kWp floating solar power plant was installed at Dhanas lake for Rs 3.34 crore. tnn
