Balkar Sidhu
has registered a complaint with the Mohali
cyber cell
on April 20, after his fb account was

, followed by extortion calls for money. “Initially, the guy used to asked for Rs 8400 to return my account, and also threatened to spam my page with obscene videos if I didn’t yield,” says Balkar speaking to us, “We transferred the money to his account, thinking it’s some hacker kid who is doing this for money. But thereafter, his demand for money started increasing and reached almost in lakh. That’s when we decided to approach the cops.” Though this is not the first time Sidhu claims to have received threats, with the first time being when he contested the Punjab elections in 2014, he says this is the first of extortion calls he has received. “Police has assured us of pursuing the case. We aren’t doing anything till then,” says Balkar.
On March 29, another singer
Resham Singh Anmol
’s social media accounts were also reportedly hacked. Though we couldn’t reach Anmol till the time of going to press on account of him being abroad, it is learnt that for six days thereafter, his social handles remained unavailable to him.
