and his brother for allegedly duping a man on the pretext of sending him abroad.

A case under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 24 of the Immigration Act has been registered against Preet Brar and his brother

Parminder Brar

in Mataur police station on the complaint of Gagandeep Singh, a resident of Kharar.

According to the FIR, Gagandeep met Preet Brar at a party in Chandigarh and the latter told him that he could help provide him citizenship of

Canada

or England.

Brar told Gaganpreet that he would take him abroad as part of his Bhangra troupe and then help him settle down there, stated the FIR.

According to FIR, Gaganpreet gave Brar Rs 4 lakh in cash, however, when no dance troupe went abroad on the date given by Brar, the complainant asked the singer to return his money.

Brar returned Rs 50,000 in cash and Rs 1 lakh in cheque, which bounced, states the FIR.

Mataur police station house officer Rajeev Kumar said that a case has been registered against Punjabi singer Preet Brar.

“We received a complaint against Preet Brar and after investigations we registered a case. Next course of action will be taken soon,” said Kumar.

Police sources said that few years back also a case was registered against the singer in a case of cheating.
