NEW DELHI:
In a chilling escalation of extortion attempts targeting the Punjabi music industry, renowned Bollywood and Punjabi singer
B Praak received a death threat, allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate.
The threat was delivered via his associate singer, Dilnoor. The incident took place on January 5, when Dilnoor received 2 missed calls from an international number. When the calls persisted on the afternoon of January 6, Dilnoor briefly answered but disconnected after sensing something suspicious.

Shortly after, a voice recording was sent to him from a person identifying himself as Anmol Bishnoi (referred to as Arzoo Bishnoi in initial reports), the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is believed to be operating from abroad.
The audio message issued a direct ultimatum: pay 10 crore within 1 week or face dire consequences. In the recording, the caller explicitly told Dilnoor to convey the message to B Praak, stating, "Tell B Praak we want 10 crore. You have 1 week. No matter which country you go to, if we find anyone associated with you, we will cause harm. Do not take this as a fake call. If he cooperates, it’s fine; otherwise, tell him we will bury him in the dirt.
"
Following receipt of this threat, Dilnoor submitted a written complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Mohali on January 6.
Cops initiated an investigation into the matter, though the high-profile nature of the target heightened security concerns within the entertainment circuit.
This threat follows a pattern of recent violence attributed to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Since the start of the New Year, the gang was linked to several incidents in Delhi, including a case in Rohini where 25 rounds were fired outside a businessman’s house, and similar attacks in West Vihar and East Delhi.
The gang’s modus operandi typically involves an initial phone threat followed by gunfire at the victim's residence to instil fear.
While Delhi Police recently arrested several suspects involved in previous shootings following encounters, the threat to B Praak highlights the persistent reach of extortionists targeting celebrities.
