The police said that he allegedly used to assault his wife after being heavily drunk and this became the reason for his wife to avenge domestic violence.
The police said that Karamjit’s wife accused Kuldeep Kaur had plotted to kill her husband only for the reason she had got tired of domestic violence against her. The police said that she took the help of her relatives including accused Maninder Singh, his friend Parvinder Singh and her brother Sunny to shape the crime.
“Kuldeep Kaur, 29, planned the murder for which she asked her brother to come and stay at her house where she was living with her husband Karamjit Singh. In the wee hours on Sunday, the accused Sunny took Karamjit on pillion ride to back home. Karamjit was returning home after night duty and was heavily drunk. On the way, two relatives of Kuldeep Kaur attacked Karamjit with a wooden rod on his head and the incident took place at a link road where no CCTV cameras were installed. Karamjit died of excessive bleeding. It was blind murder but we solved in less than a day and arrested all the four accused. The wooden rod and the bike used in the crime have also been recovered”, said Inspector Manpreet Singh, Investigation Officer in the case. He said that the case was already registered under sections 302 (murder), 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy) and 34 (Common intention) of IPC against the accused.
The police said that Kuldeep Kaur and Karamjit Singh had a love marriage over a decade ago and the couple had three children of their marriage including a 12-year-old son, and two daughters aged 7 and 4.
“Both Kuldeep and Karamjit had fallen in an affair in Chandigarh where Kuldeep Kaur’s father was a government employee. They married and children but Karamjit used to remain drunk and then assault his wife. In the past, the domestic violence complaints had been kept resolved by the village Panchayat according to Kuldeep Kaur but she never reached police station for any complaint. Now, all three kids are handed over to family members for caretake”, added, IO Inspector Manpreet Singh.
