Bathinda: Wheat arrivals in Punjab crossed 100 lakh metric tonnes (MT) on Monday.
Of the 103.5 lakh MT wheat that had arrived in mandis by the evening, 100.1 lakh MT had been procured, leaving 3.3 lakh MT unsold. With nearly 85% of the state's 122 lakh MT target already received, arrivals have begun to decline.
On Monday, arrivals stood at 4.4 lakh MT, while procurement touched 4.9 lakh MT, exceeding the day's inflow. However, lifting continued to lag, with only about 39% of procured grain moved so far. Around 5 lakh MT was lifted during the day.
