PATIALA: The Punjab government has decided to fill 15 vacant posts of principals in government colleges through promotion with the approval of the chief minister, said Harnam Dass Johar, higher education minister Punjab, presiding over a meeting of district officials at Aam Khas Bagh Sirhind on Thursday evening.
He said that the newly promoted principals would have to serve on the same post for at least two years.
Deputy Commissioner S K Ahluwalia said that about 7000 saplings had been planted by the forest department at Government Jawahar Lal Nehru College for women at Tooran village.
Meanwhile, Ahluwalia, while addressing a gathering at Mata Gujri government Senior Secondary School Fatehgarh Sahib after inaugurating a district-level science exhibition on Monday, said that teacher’s role in developing the talent of a student could not be ignored. In future, if a student excels at the district level the teacher of the student would also be honoured.
He announced a grant of Rs 5,100 to the students who had put up models in the exhibition. The exhibition was divided into six various parts: Science & Technology, Transport and Communication, Information & Technology, Industry & bio-technology. Students of 44 schools exhibited 97 models in this exhibition. The students qualifying at district level would participate at state-level science exhibition.
