CHANDIGARH: In a major relief to the newly appointed medical officers (MBBS) in Punjab state, the government here on Thursday agreed to pay them an additional 25% as NPA along with their basic pay during their period of probational service.
The decision took place after Punjab’s Health Minister Sh. Surjeet Kumar Jyani took up the matter personally with chief minister S.
Parkash Singh Badal and finance minister S. Parminder Singh Dhindsa after which the government agreed to attach 25% NPA along-with the basic pay of MBBS doctors during the probation. The move would encourage more doctors to join the government service and serve the people of state. Sh. Jyani expressed gratitude to CM and finance minister for allowing NPA to doctors during their probation period.
It’s pertinent to note that any new appointee in the government service is given only the basic pay during the particular period of his/her probation as per the present policy of the Punjab government. The same was also applicable on the medical officers (MBBS) joining the regular government service in Punjab. However, the specialists were already exempted under this policy.
