PATIALA: The police here have booked six persons, under sections of the IPC including murder, for allegedly killing a man outside a bank in Punjab's Patiala district.
The case against the accused has been registered with the Ghanaur police on the complaint of the uncle of the deceased, Karanveer Singh, 49, of Pippal Mangoli village of Ghanaur in Patiala.
Karanveer, a farmer, was stabbed to death by the accused with whom he had heated arguments over some issue only an hour ago before he was killed.
The police said that all the identified accused hail from the same village as the deceased.
“The accused had landed in an argument with Karanveer Singh in the village following which the accused thrashed him. Karanveer, however, managed to escape once and stood outside a SBI Bank in the village as he might have been waiting to board a bus from there and run out of the village for some time but the accused caught him and stabbed him on the spot. The post-mortem of the deceased was conducted before handing the body to the family. The report will reveal how many times the deceased was stabbed. The accused were booked under sections of IPC including 302 (murder), 120-B (Criminal conspiracy), 148 (Rioting) and 149 (unlawful assembly),” said station house officer Ghanaur police station.
Karnail Singh, complainant, in his statement to the police said that around six persons had attacked Karanveer on Monday who was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to injuries following excessive bleeding.
The police claimed to have arrested one of the accused identified as Sukhwinder Singh, 22. The police added that the other accused are identified as Harpreet Singh and Khuspreet Singh while three others were yet to be identified.
