PATIALA: Amid the rising cases of domestic violence during the lockdown, the
police
in Patiala have registered a case against a 32-year-old man of
Patiala district
for allegedly pouring acid inside the mouth of his wife following heated arguments.
The police said that the accused since last fifteen days was lading in heated arguments or scuffle with his wife and on Monday he poured acid inside her mouth leaving her hospitalized. Police, however, could record her statement only on Wednesday.
The police said that 32-year old accused identified as
Surmukh Singh
hails from Balsua village of
Rajpura
division and was working as a labourer but from last two weeks he was at home and remained intoxicated with liquor. The police added that the couple did not have any children out of their marriage. Investigating Officer Pardeep Kaur has been given the charge to look into the matter however the accused is yet to be nabbed by the police.

Rajpura said, “The injured woman is hospitalized in the government hospital in Rajpura after the incident. The accused is out of police reach since them. The statement was recorded on Wednesday. The victim is not able to speak properly after the attack. We have booked the accused under sections of IPC including voluntary causing hurt with dangerous weapons.”
