BATHINDA: Notorious gangster Kulbir Singh Naruana was nabbed on Sunday along with two associates here for allegedly firing at a cop on January 10.
Naruana had joined the Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab before the parliamentary elections last year in the presence of Punjab revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia.
Four weapons including a foreign-made pistol were recovered from their possession.

Naruana and his accomplices had allegedly tried to forcibly take possession of a house belonging to Bathinda resident Hardeep Singh. Hardeep reached the cantonment police station to lodge a complaint where Naruana allegedly fired at him and the bullet hit constable Gursewak Singh.
Naruana and accomplices fled after the shootout and two separate cases of trespassing and attempt to murder were registered against them.
“Police on Sunday succeeded in arresting Naruana and his accomplices Amandeep Singh from village Ubha in Mansa and Rajbir Singh from village Jai Singh Wala in Bathinda. Four pistols, including a foreign made .30 bore valued at Rs 5 lakh, and 9 cartridges were recovered from them,” said Bathinda SSP Inder Mohan Singh.
