Punjab Election Results 2024 Highlights: Congress wins 7 seats, AAP 3 and SAD 1
Punjab Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 Live: As the counting of votes ended, the Congress won the 7 seats, Aam Aadmi Party won the 3 seats and Shiromani Akali Dal won 1 seat. Out of 13 seats, 2 independents also won the seats. There was no sign of BJP in the Punjab lok sabha.
Till 8 pm, the Election Commission announced the results of the 13 Lok Sabha Constituency of the Punjab where Congress leaders' Charanjit Singh Channi, Amar Singh, and Gurjeet Singh Aujla won the elections. AAP also won 3 seats.
The tallying of ballots for the 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Punjab commenced across 117 counting locations.
The counting process will be supervised by a group of 64 counting observers, selected from the All India Services and Civil Services cadres of different states.
The 13 constituencies in Punjab went to polls in a single phase on June 01 during the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The results for these Lok Sabha constituencies are scheduled to be announced today.
The state having 13 constituencies holds substantial political significance and is witnessing a fierce battle between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)
The INC was the single largest party in Punjab, winning 08 out of 13 in 2019 Lok Sabha elections with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and BJP winning two seats each. AAP won one seat.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections SAD and BJP won four seats each and INC won 3 seats. AAP won two seats.
Punjab recorded around 62% voting turnout out of over 2.14 crore eligible electors in its 13 Lok Sabha constituencies on Saturday sealing the fate of 328 candidates, including 26 women, in fray amid reports of electronic voting machines (EVMs) malfunctioning and minor clashes at afew places in sweltering heat.
The exit poll for the Punjab Lok Sabha elections 2024 was announced on Saturday. According to exit poll predictions by Matrize, AAP will get 3-6 seats, SAD will get 1-4 seats, BJP will get 0-2 seats and Congress will get 0-3 seats.

Out of at least 19 candidates from political families contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab, only four could secure a win.

In a humiliating defeat to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab two years after its landslide victory, its Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and party's national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, set an ambitious target of winning all 13 Lok Sabha seats on Tuesday and won just three seats, with four of five cabinet ministers failing to secure victories.
However, it improved its 2019 performance when it managed to win a lone seat.
Instead, the main Opposition Congress, which was at the helm between 2017 and 2022, won seven seats, while Independents won two and the Shiromani Akali Dal won one seat.
The BJP, which has won two seats in alliance with SAD in 2019, was blank in 2024.

The results from Khadoor Sahib and Faridkot Lok Sabha seats in Punjab indicate a big churn inside the Sikh political space along with the re-emergence of Panthic politics. Radical preacher Amritpal Singh has won from Khadoor Sahib and Sarabjit Singh — the son of Indira Gandhi’s assassin Beant Singh — from Faridkot, both as Independents.

Out of five Punjab Cabinet ministers fielded by AAP for the Lok Sabha polls, only one could register victory even as the state is set to see by-elections in four assembly segments. Congress records vote share of 26.30 pc in Punjab
The Congress party emerged victorious in seven out of the 13 seats in Punjab, but their vote share experienced a decline, falling to 26.30 per cent compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, according to ECI data. On the other hand, the ruling AAP secured three seats and witnessed a significant increase in their vote share, rising from 7.38 per cent in the previous parliamentary elections to 26.02 per cent.Despite not winning any seats, the BJP managed to double its vote share to 18.56 per cent, a notable improvement from the 9.63 per cent it had garnered in 2019, as per the data.The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), led by Sukhbir Singh Badal, faced a setback in the elections, winning only one seat. Moreover, their vote share dropped from 27.45 per cent in 2019 to 13.42 per cent in the 2024 polls, as per election commission data.

Punjab Lok Sabha Results Live: Congress ahead in 7 seats, AAP in 3
The Congress was leading in seven seats in Punjab and the AAP in three, according to the Election Commission trends.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) was leading in one parliamentary constituency besides two independents, including radical preacher Amritpal Singh.
Congress candidates were leading from Amritsar, Jalandhar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdaspur, Patiala, Ferozepur and Ludhiana seats and the AAP was ahead in Hoshiarpur, Sangrur and Anandpur Sahib, the trends showed.
Congress party's Charanjit Singh Channi was way ahead of his nearest rival and BJP candidate Sushil Rinku in Jalandhar reserve constituency.
Channi, who is the former Punjab chief minister, was leading by 1,21,850 votes.
Congress' Sukhjinder Randhawa, who is the former deputy chief minister was leading in Gurdaspur seat against his nearest rival BJP's Dinesh Singh Babbu by a margin of 27,605 votes.
In Amritsar, Congress candidate Gurjeet Singh Aujla was leading against his nearest rival and BJP's Taranjit Singh Sandhu by a margin of 15,632 votes.
Congress candidate Amar Singh, who is the sitting MP, was also leading in Fatehgarh Sahib against the AAP's Gurpreet Singh GP by 18,839 votes.
Congress nominee Amrinder Singh Raja Warring was leading in Ludhiana by a margin of 15,664 votes against BJP's Ravneet Singh Bittu.
Congress party's Sher Singh Ghubaya was ahead by 4,259 votes in Ferozepur seat against AAP's Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar.
Congress party's Dharamvira Gandhi was leading by 7,651 votes against AAP's Balbir Singh in Patiala.
AAP's Raj Kumar Chabbewal was leading in Hoshiarpur by a margin of 19,615 votes against Congress's Yamini Gomar while AAP's Malvinder Singh Kang was ahead in Anandpur Sahib seat by a margin of 3,323 votes against Congress party's Vijay Inder Singla.
AAP's Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer maintained a healthy lead in Sangrur seat. He was ahead by a margin of 1,12,805 votes against SAD (Amritsar) candidate Simranjit Singh Mann.

Sarabjeet Singh Khalsa, who contested as an independent, was leading in Faridkot against his nearest rival AAP's Karamjit Singh Anmol by a margin of 51,261 votes. Khalsa is the son of one of the two assassins of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
