GURDASPUR: To mark India’s 71st Independence Day,
Punjab chief minister
Amarinder Singh conferred state awards to 45 persons, including religious activists, police personnel and government officials for their services and contribution to the society during the state-level function held at the Shaheed Lt Navdeep Singh Ashok Chakra Sports Stadium here on Tuesday.

Five police officials including SP investigation Patiala Harvinder Singh Virk, Fatehgarh Sahib inspector Shaminder Singh, ASI Patiala Tejinder Singh, ASI Bathinda Pushpinder Singh, and Bathinda head constable Sanjiv Kumar were also honoured.
The chief minister inspected the parade and took salute of the march past led by commander DSP Jashandeep Singh Gill and second-in-command, Sukhvinder Singh Goraya. The parade included contingents from Punjab police, PAP, Uttarakhand police, Chandigarh police, Punjab Home Guards, ex-servicemen and boys and girls from NCC.
On the occasion, children from different schools of Gurdaspur presented gatka and yoga shows. They also presented a cultural programme of giddha and bhangra.
Amarinder also interacted with freedom fighters, Hukam Singh of Kahnuwan, Arjan Singh of Pandori village, Vassan Singh of Gauspura village and Najar Singh of Jindar village.
