Amarinder Singh confers state awards to 45 people on I-Day
GURDASPUR: To mark India’s 71st Independence Day, Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh conferred state awards to 45 persons, including religious activists, police personnel and government officials for their services and contribution to the society during the state-level function held at the Shaheed Lt Navdeep Singh Ashok Chakra Sports Stadium here on Tuesday.
Those who were conferred the state awards included Ludhiana municipal corporation fire officer Hazoora Singh; firemen at Ludhiana MC Naresh Kumar and Lovelesh Kumar; PESCO fireman in Ludhiana Saudagar Singh; Manpreet Kaur of Shahpur Theri village in Sangrur; Surjit Singh Doohre of Doohre village of Jalandhar; Sri Sukhmani Sahib Sewa Society, Ferozepur founder member Inder Singh Gogia; Ravi Singh Ahluwalia of Patiala; SMO in-charge Pathankot civil hospital Dr Bhupinder Singh; Sohan Maheshwari, Bathinda; Vijay Goel of Bathinda; Kewal Krishan of Bathinda; Vijay Kumar of Bathinda; Satnam Singh of Lachowal village of Hoshiarpur; Piara Singh of Sangrur; Tejinder Kaur of Kharar, Mohali; deputy director-cum-district dental health officer, Gurdaspur Dr Sharanjit Kaur Sidhu; Amarjit Singh of Bathinda; assistant professor, Pharsi, Urdu and Arbi department Punjabi University Patiala Dr Rehman Akhtar; Ali Mohammad of Rajpura; professor in department of Guru Gobind Singh Religion Study Center Punjabi University Patiala Gurmit Singh Sidhu; medical officer (surgeon) VVIP medical team, chief minister, Punjab Dr Jaswant Singh; Director PAU’s agriculture research center Gurdaspur Dr Ram Sakal Singh; forensic scientist Patiala bureau of identification Dr Vikram Raj Singh Chauhan; soil testing-cum-block agriculture officer Amrik Singh; associate professor psychiatric department Punjabi University Patiala Dr Damanjit Sandhu; sub divisional engineer PWD (B&R) Pathankot Naresh Kumar; Golu Mann, Abul Khurana, Sri Muktsar Sahib; principal SCD Government College Ludhiana Dr
Five police officials including SP investigation Patiala Harvinder Singh Virk, Fatehgarh Sahib inspector Shaminder Singh, ASI Patiala Tejinder Singh, ASI Bathinda Pushpinder Singh, and Bathinda head constable Sanjiv Kumar were also honoured.
The chief minister inspected the parade and took salute of the march past led by commander DSP Jashandeep Singh Gill and second-in-command, Sukhvinder Singh Goraya. The parade included contingents from Punjab police, PAP,
On the occasion, children from different schools of Gurdaspur presented gatka and yoga shows. They also presented a cultural programme of giddha and bhangra.
Amarinder also interacted with freedom fighters, Hukam Singh of Kahnuwan, Arjan Singh of Pandori village, Vassan Singh of Gauspura village and Najar Singh of Jindar village.
