The Punjab and Haryana high court bar association, one of the oldest and leading bar associations in the country, will elect its office-bearers on April 24.

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court bar association, one of the oldest and leading bar associations in the country, will elect its office-bearers on April 24.
Senior advocate Anmol Ratan Sidhu and advocate Ranjan Lakhanpal have started campaigning for the post of president. For the post of secretary, advocate Govinder Brar and Saurav Khurana have begun soliciting votes.

Sidhu, who is sitting president of the HC bar, said if he was elected, his focus would be on providing better infrastructure and facilities to enhance the professional efficiency of lawyers. Sidhu has been the president of the high court bar association five times.
And, Lakhanpal said if he became the president, he would work to bring in transparency in the bar and uphold the dignity and prestige of the legal profession. Lakhanpal had taken up various human rights violation issues before the judicial platform. There are around 5,000 members of the high court bar association and of them, around 3,600 will cast their votes. The elections will be held for the post of president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary and treasurer.
