CHANDIGARH: Panjab University hasrevoked the suspension of Narinder Gujjar, who allegedly attacked SOPU leaderBrinder Dhillon, outside the vice-chancellors residence on November 6, 2008. Astudent in the department of laws, Gujjar was subsequently suspended on November8.
However, the annulment of his suspension has caused widespreadresentment among students who have demanded that rules be applieduniformly.
It worthwhile to mention that Brinder was allegedly beatenup by four boys, while returning after inviting VC RC Sobti for a function.Later, an FIR was registered against Sanjay Kumar, Narinder Gujjar and SimrandepSandhu. Also, a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder), IPC, was registeredas Brinder���s medical report revealed that the injuries were grievous innature.
Taking cue from this, student organizations have now demandedthat the suspension orders of SOPU leader Harpreet Singh Multani also berevoked.
Multani, who allegedly stabbed Simrandeep Singh in anexamination hall in May, 2008, was later suspended. Meanwhile, Brinder, said,���The authorities are not being fair. They must withdraw the suspensionorders of Harpreet Multani who was suspended 9 months ago.���
