CHANDIGARH: With the admission season in full swing at Panjab University (PU), the varsity is receiving a number of queries from youngsters keen to get enrolled in its various courses.
But with its helpline numbers — which operate from 10am to 5pm — reportedly failing to serve the purpose, out-stationed candidates are a harried lot. They say a few numbers are non-functional and on others, nobody cares to reply.
Consequently, they are seeking the help of student leaders. Harpreet, a resident of Mohali, said, "I wanted to know the date of BCom counselling. I called up on all the helpline numbers given on the form and website, but either these were not reachable or no one answered. I had to come to PU to find out the date."
A hassled resident of Pathankot said, "My daughter wants to take admission to MSc (chemistry) course. We had some queries, but no one at PU answered any of our calls. And so, I had to come from Pathankot to get all the necessary information."
Vineet Punia, public relations officer, PU said, "We have not received any such complaints. We will get the problem checked to ensure smooth services."
