Protest to mark human rights day

Bathinda: The Dal Khalsa held a march to mark the 70th International Human Rights Day here on Monday, seeking justice for alleged police firing at Behbal Kalan in 2015 and for those families whose sons had disappeared or faced custodial deaths in 1980s.

The march was meant to remind society about the pain and suffering of victims of the violation of human rights. Activists carrying placards and photographs of victims of state repression who disappeared without a trace demanding either declaration that they were dead or help in knowing their whereabouts. The Dal Khalsa was supported by allied groups like Malwa Youth Federation and Sikh Youth of Punjab.

Hitting out at the Narendra Modi government over the increased incidents of mob lynching in Hindi heartland, speakers while taking a jibe said in Modi’s India cows have rights but humans do not. They also carried placards with this message to put across their point of view.
