PATIALA: The latest appointment to the post of secretary (Examination) of the Punjab Public Service Commission has once again raised questions of the selection criterion.
The Punjab government had on Tuesday transferred Ashwini Kumar from this post as his brother was running a coaching centre at Patiala for PCS and IAS candidates. And SDM (Sunam) PS Gill was appointed as the new secretary of the Commission.

Interestingly, he is a nephew of Justice Amarbir Singh Gill, father of Anmol Gill, who was selected to PCS during Ravi Sidhu’s stint as PPSC chief. Gill is the fifth secretary to be appointed to Commission after the arrest of Pritpal Singh. But, three of them did not join.
Amarjit Singh Chawla, a member of the PPSC, told Times News Network said before making any appointment the government should have considered that the PPSC had already faced loss of credibility.
“We are making all efforts to revive its credibility, so the government should keep this in mind,� he added
