HISAR: The Haryana Power Engineers Association (HPEA) on Wednesday decided to boycott all the public programmes of panchayat minister Devendra Babli till he does not offer an apology for his alleged indecent behaviour against a sub-divisional officer of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN).
Babli had allegedly abused
Amit Yadav, sub-divisional officer, DHBVN, Tohana (rural), during a public meeting at Jakhal town of Fatehabad district on Tuesday.
HPEA state president Vijender Lamba said a meeting of the office-bearers of the association and the DHBVN management was held over the issue. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the management has assured the engineers that all necessary steps will be taken, Lamba claimed.
Addressing a meeting here on Wednesday, Lamba said panchayat minister Babli had organised a 'Janata Darbar' at Jakhal on Tuesday to address the grievances of the people in which officials of different departments, including DHBVN, Tohana (rural) sub-divisional officer Amit Yadav, were present.
On a complaint about shifting of a transformer installed years ago, the minister lost his temper and publicly abused SDO Amit Yadav. He was also pushed by the minister's security staff, said Lamba, adding that Babli also threatened to lodge an FIR and get Yadav suspended.
Lamba said Yadav belongs to the 2021 batch and had been working in Tohana for the last 4-5 months, fulfilling his responsibilities under the policy and rules of the department.
Even in the case of shifting of the transformer, the SDO was presenting his side by citing the rules, but the minister did not listen to him and got angry and humiliated him publicly. This is a case of misuse of power by the minister, he said.
If the minister does not apologise publicly for his behaviour, then the power engineers will boycott all his programmes, Lamba added.
HPEA state general secretary Anil Nagar said they had written to the CM, the power minister and the chairman of the electricity corporation in this regard.
