poppy husk seized from truck

Panchkula: Police have arrested two people after 11.55 kg of poppy husk and 12.30 gram of heroin were allegedly recovered from them. Tara Chand of Chandimandir was selling the poppy husk from his truck parked on the Morni road, said cops, adding the drug was packed in a white sack and hidden under the seat of the driver. Gautam, a resident of Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh, was caught with 12.30 gram of heroin near the bus stand in Sector 5, said police.

They would pose as passengers while one of them drove the cab with the drugs in the boot. The arrest was made following a tip-off received by the police. During interrogation, the accused revealed that their brother was also involved in drug trafficking and used their taxi for the illegal activity. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
