CHANDIGARH: The name of a girl has surfaced in the investigations into the suicide of a 24-year-old at her paying guest (PG) accommodation on February 22, indicating she was the probable reason behind the victim snapping all contact with the grandson of the owner of the PG, who was arrested for abetment to suicide on March 1.
Sources said the scrutiny of call details record of Deepinder Singh, the accused, and Puneeta Kapoor, the victim, proved the relationship between the two had grown tense after Puneeta realized that Deepinder was in contact with the girl.
Sources said Deepinder had made over 100 calls to Puneeta after she had snubbed him, giving credence to the charge of her father that he was harassing her.
The police have also recovered a dysfunctional cellphone of Puneeta from her room. Inspector Dilsher Singh Chandel of Sector 17 police station, said, "The reason behind the stern relations between the accused and the victim have almost been cleared. Deepinder had deleted some vital record from the cellphone of the victim before throwing it into a water tank."
Sources said though others girls in the PG were sharing a room, Puneeta was residing independently.
