'Did it as he abused Islam': Pakistani don Shehzab Bhatti releases video of Jalandhar grenade attack

JALANDHAR: Pakistan-based don Shahzad Bhatti released a video on Sunday morning, along with another clip of a "grenade" hurled at a social media influencer's house in a Jalandhar village during the night, prompting police officials to rush to the latter's house, from where they seized a ‘metallic' object from the second floor of the house.

The object, picked up by the bomb disposal squad later in the day, is being examined. Some time ago, a video call of Bhatti and jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi had also surfaced online.




In his video, Bhatti said the grenade was hurled at social media influencer Rozer Sandhu's house because he was abusing Islam, the Kabbah, and the Prophet. The supposed grenade did not explode, and the house was not damaged, said an agency report.

"If he survives, we will strike again. He is not alone; there were five people, and they thought we forgot. I thank my two brothers, Zeeshan Akhtar (an accused in Baba Siddiqui murder case) and Happy Passia (a US-based wanted gangster of Punjabi origin with terror links). He (Passia) also supported me. If you want no bloodshed or peace not disturbed, arrest them (Sandhu). I shall give their photographs and names, then I shall not do anything. If you don't arrest them, then whatever consequences I face, I will destroy them in a way that their seven generations will remember," Bhatti said.

Bhatti said in the video that he was posting the video of the blast as channels in Inida might air it. "The video has been made so that if anybody abuses again, we will do worse with them. If he survives, I will go for a bigger attack. He (Rozer), his brother, and three or four more people are there. I have their names and pictures. If you abuse the Kabbah and Islam again, I will strike again, whatever time it takes. Every time we will make a video of the strike," Bhatti said.

The other 17-second video clip shows a man sitting in a car giving directions through a video call for throwing the "grenade" at the "second portion (floor)" and also asking to remove the pin, with the man on the other end hurling the object.

Jalandhar SSP (rural) Gurmeet Singh said they got intimation about the incident. "When we checked, we found a suspicious object there. We called the bomb disposal team, and they picked it up and would check it. The real motive is to disturb Punjab govt's aggressive campaign against drugs. The agencies sitting abroad want to derail that. We will check CCTV footage also," he said.

The SSP also confirmed the location appearing in the video released by Bhatti was the same which police inspected. He said that they questioned Rozer about his comments in the past, but nothing objectionable emerged. Sandhu said he did not know about the grenade as he was asleep.

A Hoshiarpur resident, Sam, and his father claimed that he too received a call from the Pak-based don who threatened them.
