JIND: Haryana Police has busted a honey trap gang and arrested three members, who have been sent to judicial custody today. The fourth accused is still at large. According to police officials, the female accused was running the gang with her two brothers, one cousin, and one real brother.
The women involved in this scam caught red handed while accepting Rs 8 lakh from the victim.
While addressing a press conference on Monday in Narwana town of Jind district DSP Amit Bhatia stated that the woman had previously trapped several people and extorted money from them. She would trick people by making false excuses and later talking on calls under some pretext.
After trapping her victims, she would demand money in the name of a settlement. After receiving the money, she would search for a new target. There have been three cases where the accused woman took money and settled the issue, withdrawing the complaint, he said.
On January 8, 2025, a woman from Uchana Kalan filed a rape complaint against a man from Kapdo village in Hisar district at the Narwana police station. During the investigation, police officials were informed by the accused man's mother that the woman who had filed the rape case was demanding Rs 8 lakh to settle the matter.
She already received Rs 1 lakh as an advance. Thereafter, an investigation was handed over to CIA in-charge Sukhdev Singh who formed a team to unearth the entire incident.
On March 8, the police noted the serial numbers of the currency and handed Rs 8 lakh to the complainant. The accused woman had asked the complainant to meet at a grocery store in Uchana Kalan to collect the money. As soon as she received the money, the CIA team caught her red-handed. Along with the woman, her accomplice Balinder, a resident of Kahsun village, was also caught. In this case, the woman’s associates, he added.
According to police sources, the woman would change her target every six months. Other gang members would record videos and pressure the victims into settling the issue.
