CHANDIGARH: City-based owner of a pharmaceutical company was duped of Rs 40 lakh on the pretext of supplying five lakh pieces of three-ply face masks during the Covid pandemic. After verifying the facts, Sector 31 police registered a cheating case against officials of a Lucknow-based pharmaceutical firm.


Mast Mast Ram, proprietor of Vam pharma, Industrial Area, Phase 2 alleged that Kailash Gupta, Lovkush Verma, Ashish Srivastava and others of PBL Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd, Lucknow UP, cheated him of Rs 40 lakh for supplying an order of five lakh pieces of three-ply face masks in 2020.

The accused, who said that they manufactured and supplied pharmaceutical goods, approached the complainant in 2019. The complainant said he received an order for the supply of face masks from China in 2020. Officials of PBL Pharmaceuticals promised to supply five lakh face masks for the order. They demanded money in advance and the complainant allegedly transferred Rs 5 lakh and Rs 35 lakh to them in 2020. They did not deliver the masks.
