CHANDIGARH: In keeping with union health secretary SK Naik’s suggestion to PGI Director Prof SK Sharma for initiating talks with the resident doctors to end the evening OPD impasse, resident doctors have set Monday as the deadline to hear from the director in this regard.
"We have decided to wait till Monday. Till date there has been no official communication from PGI’s side on the evening OPD issue and if we do not hear from the Director by Monday, we will convene an executive committee meeting to decide on the action," said the resident doctors.

"We will not attend the evening OPD under any circumstances as we feel that it would not be possible for a resident, who is already working for nearly 18 hours per day, to deliver quality healthcare to the patients coming to the evening OPD," noted resident doctors.
