PATIALA: The Punjabi University authorities, on Friday, suspended KS Sidhu, a professor in the department defence studies for malfeasance.
Sidhu had earlier resigned as head of the department in protest against the ‘‘vindictive’’ attitude of the vice-chancellor. Sidhu told TNN he was yet to receive the order.
‘‘I expected such an action from VC Boparai who is vindictive ever since I complained against him to the chancellor.’’
He had been appointed as the registrar of the university during the tenure of officiating vice-chancellor NS Rattan but SS Boparai removed him from the post and appointed Param Bakhshish Singh in his place.
Sidhu had openly spoken against the decision of Boparai. He had also resented the fact that he was not allowed to go abroad to present a paper at international conferences in Australia and Sri Lanka.
It was when Sidhu wrote a letter to the chancellor of the university in this regard that Boparai made harsh comments about it. Sidhu has been suspended on the charges of keeping the V-C in the dark regarding the file on an employee during his period as the registrar.
University spokesman Baldev Singh Sandhu said, fifteen days before the end the probation period of an employee his/her file has be placed before the V-which Sidhu did not.
