Patiala administration vacates MLA Pathanmajra’s govt residence; Punished for speaking in favour of Punjab, says wife
Patiala: The Patiala administration, backed by the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Punjab police, initiated action on Wednesday to forcibly vacate the official residence of Sanour MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, following the cancellation of the house allotment and the high court dismissing his legal appeals against being declared a proclaimed offender. A heavy police presence was witnessed at the MLA's bungalow on Passey Road as administrative officials moved in to execute the eviction order, citing violations of the Punjab Government House Allotment Rules, 1983.The administration cited alleged misuse of the property, including large-scale political gatherings at the residence causing public inconvenience, failure to submit mandatory rent receipts to the concerned department, and the MLA's status as an absconder since early September 2025.

During the eviction process, the MLA's wife, Simranjot Kaur, who has been residing in the house while battling health issues, alleged political vendetta and held chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal responsible. "We are being punished for speaking in favor of Punjab. We have endured a lot, but our courage will not break. The Almighty will bring everything to light on His own," she stated, while adding that her ailing sister who had undergone surgery was also taken out from the house during eviction process.
She said, "We asked the administration around two weeks time for eviction but all fallen on deaf ears".Meanwhile, MLA HS Pathanmajra termed the action as political vendetta. He said this official residence in Patiala was allotted to him as MLA. He added that "eviction instead should have been carried out on the house of AAP national convener." The MLA's counsel claimed the residence was vacated despite a pending appeal in the local court. The case against Pathanmajra began on Sept 1 last year. An FIR was registered at the Civil Lines police station, Patiala, under charges of rape, cheating, and criminal intimidation after a Zirakpur-based woman alleged that Pathanmajra misrepresented his marital status to enter into a relationship and later married her in 2021, while still legally married to another woman. On Sept 2, 2025, Pathanmajra evaded a Punjab Police arrest team in Dabri village, Karnal, in an incident that involved allegations of gunfire on police team and later stone-pelting by his supporters. However, Pathanmajra later uploaded videos and a CCTV footage on his social media, and termed the allegations baseless. After months on the run, with reports suggesting he may have fled to Australia, a local court initiated proceedings to declare him a fugitive. Before his disappearance, Pathanmajra publicly criticised his own party's Delhi leadership and the state's handling of flood relief, and claimed the legal actions against him were a "political conspiracy" to silence him.
