Patiala: 106 booked in two days for curfew violation; 68 cases registered

PATIALA: The police in Patiala have booked as many as 106 persons and some unidentified under sections of IPC including violation of curfew orders. Around 68 cases of curfew violations have been registered with different police station in the district in only two days.
A number of shopkeepers are also booked for violating the orders of curfew as the police during inspection had found the grocery shops opened and thus inviting the crowd that could prove harmful amid the Covid19 threat.

In some other cases the police have booked some alleged smugglers for smuggling liquor among the residents following shut down of the liquor vends in the state.
The Sadar Samana police on Friday have booked two persons under sections of curfew violation and excise act after recovering illegal liquor bottles from them during the curfew. The police said that 19 bottles were recovered from these two accused. On Friday alone, around 55 cases were registered and 87 persons were booked by name.
Similarly, on Thursday the police here have booked around 19 identified and some unidentified accused under various sections of IPC including violation of the curfew orders. The police said that in almost all the 13 cases the violators were booked after they failed to pay any heeds to the warnings.
The police have booked some grocery shop owners for opening their shops despite strict orders to not to open their shops as only home delivery in accordance with the rules and regulations of maintaining social distancing was permitted to the shopkeepers. The police said that the shopkeepers mentioned in the list of the district administration was allowed to provide ration and other items delivered at home turn-wise.

In three cases registered at Samana police station, Banur police station and City Rajpura police station the Karyana shopkeepers were booked for opening their shop and violating the curfew orders.
In Bakshiwala, the police have booked a man under sections of curfew violations and excise act after recovering illegal liquor from his possession. The police said that the accused was selling illegal liquor in Choti Rauni village of Patiala and 17 bottles of liquor were recovered from him.
