Parties take exception to CS, DGP addressing rally where politics dominated proceedings
Bathinda: The presence and address by Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha and DGP Gaurav Yadav at a rally addressed by Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, AAP Punjab in charge Manish Sisodia, has come under scanner of opposition parties. The Shiromani Akali Dal, BJP and Congress have stated the address by the top bureaucrat and the top police official to be unfair where political slogans and political flags were to be seen in plenty.SAD leader Daljit Singh Cheema terming it unacceptable has asked the Election Commission of Indias to take note of it. He said "We urge the Election Commission of India & Hon'ble Governor of Punjab to take immediate notice, order a high-level inquiry & recover the entire expenditure from AAP. If it was a govt function, why were AAP leaders from Delhi with no constitutional role present? If it was a party event, why did the Chief Secretary & DGP address it? This politicisation of state machinery must stop".
BJP Punjab President Sunil Jakhar in a social media post wrote "Watching the Chief Secretary & DGP at Aam Aadmi Party's rally today, one wonders if India's 'steel frame' bureaucrats are now bending to political whims . Isn't this a flagrant breach of All India Service Rules?Congress leader and leader of opposition in Punjab assembly Pratap Singh Basjwa stated 890 government buses diverted, a Chief Secretary and DGP on a political stage and we're supposed to believe this is "governance"? When state machinery becomes party machinery, probity dies and taxpayers foot the bill. Democracy deserves neutrality, not official endorsement.
