Hoshiarpur: Union defence minister Manohar Parikkar has said that domestic flights from Adampur airbase would be given approval next month. Parrikar, who was here on Tuesday for 'Vikas Parv' being celebrated on completion of two years of Modi government and to open a war memorial for public, said that initially the Indian Air Force authorities had raised some issues but now the ministry of defence had finally granted No Objection Certificates for domestic flights.
"A meeting of the Airport Authority of India and the Air India would be held next month (July) after which the green signal would be issued for the domestic flights from Adampur Air Force station", he said while responding to a query from journalists.
He made it a point to mention that minister of state for social justice and empowerment Vijay Sampla, who represents Hoshiarpur constituency in parliament, first raised the issue and consistently followed it till it reached a logical conclusion.
When asked about the fear among people of Pathankot due to the shoot at sight orders near boundary wall of the Pathankot airbase, Parrikar said that unauthorized persons trying to violate the limits outside the base would have to face the consequences.
