Pargat Singh slams detention of teachers

Jalandhar: Former Punjab education minister and Congress MLA Pargat Singh has condemned the incident of teachers being detained at a govt school in Rania village in Moga district, calling it a direct attack on democratic values. He said detaining the teachers merely because a rally of chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann was being held nearby was highly objectionable. "Is this what the CM and the Aam Aadmi Party call an education revolution?" he questioned.He questioned the govt, asking what kind of threat teachers posed? "The incident shows that the govt is afraid of criticism and that police interference in educational institutions is increasing," he said.
