Panchkula: Woman, 23, raped by father, delivers stillborn

PANCHKULA: A 23-year-old mentally disabled woman has given birth to a still child at the Panchkula civil hospital. The hospital authorities informed the police about the incident and the police later arrested her father on charges of allegedly raping his daughter.
The police said he had been raping his daughter from past many months and when she developed delivery pains.
According to sub inspector Neha Chauhan, SHO, women police station and Sector 19 police post in charge ASI Gulab Singh, the family members of the woman failed to give satisfactory answer regarding the woman getting pregnant. The police then suspected her father and when he was questioned, he confessed to have committed the crime.
Sub inspector Neha Chauhan and ASI Gulab Singh said they have arrested the man on charges of rape after the survivor named him, but she also claimed in her statement that her other family members were unaware of the crime. He will be produced in the court on Saturday.
