Despite the growing complaints regarding garbage collection, MC continues to claim that all mechanisms are in place.
''If we are lucky, the rubbish is lifted once in many days. This is followed by a long period of dirty surroundings. Most commonly, piles of litter can be seen near bus stops. Can officials even imagine the stink one has to endure,'' questioned Samriti Jain, a student who was waiting to board a bus at a Sector-15 stop.
According to residents, the worst-affected areas include Budhanpur, Abhaypur, Rajiv Colony, Industrial Area phases I and II, LIG colony (iron market), sectors sectors 4, 10, 11, 15, 20 and 26.
A resident of Panchkula suggested that a proper schedule needs to be charted so that sanitation workers are help responsible whenever they do not clean their area concerned.
However, executive officer of Panchkula civic body K K Jain claimed, ''Workers are carrying out garbage lifting duty properly. Whenever we receive any complaint, the team is sent to the spot immediately.''
