One nabbed with 1. 9 kg opium by government railway police Rajpura

PATIALA: The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Rajpura apprehended an individual, Baljeet Singh, a resident of Rahon village in Ludhiana district, for possession of a substantial quantity of opium. The arrest was made under the directives of the Special DGP Railways, Shashi Prabha Dwivedi.The operation was led by SI Sukhwinder Singh of the GRP's CIA-2 unit. During a search conducted on Platform No. 1 at the Rajpura Railway Station, the team recovered 1.9 kilograms of opium from Baljeet Singh's possession.Prompt legal action was initiated, and a case (FIR No. 22) was registered against the accused under Sections 18/16/85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Baljeet Singh was presented before the court, and a one-day police remand was obtained to facilitate further investigation into the matter.The DSP, Jagmohan Singh, commended the efforts of the GRP team in successfully intercepting the illicit drug consignment and apprehending the accused. The operation underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat the menace of drug trafficking and maintain law and order in the region.
