CHANDIGARH: Union minister of state for jal shakti Prahlad Singh Patel informed the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday that out of total 15,222 rural habitations in Punjab, 11,955 were fully covered with tap water connections and 2,396 were partially covered.

Responding to a question raised by Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) MP Raghav Chadha during the ongoing monsoon session of the parliament, the Union minister of state added that there were 871 habitations in Punjab which reported water quality issues.

Patel added the central government undertook regular reviews with all state governments and Union Territory administrations, including Punjab, to review planning, implementation and progress made under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) to make provision of tap water supply to every household, school, anganwadi centres, and ashrams by 2024.
