Nodal body to check medical colleges
CHANDIGARH: Punjab government on Thursday constituted a nodal authority consisting of three members, justice Amarbir Singh Gill, former vice chancellor Punjab University R.P. Bambah, and PGIMER director K.K. Talwar, for entertaining complaints with regard to the violations of the rules by the private medical colleges in the state.
Stating this here, minister medical education, Tikshan Sud explained that this independent authority would provide an objective forum to the public and the institutions to redress their grievances.

It will have the powers of a court.
The authority would also take a suo moto notice of the violations and take action. It also has the authority to direct the complainant to furnish additional information or an affidavit in support of his allegations.
The minister added that the government would later fix the terms and conditions of appointment.
