Kullu Dussehra

without holding cultural and commercial activities. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by chief minister Jai Ram Thakur. It was also decided that all deities would be invited for the festival and all religious ceremonies would be organised traditionally.

Dussehra would be organised from October 15 to 21.

Congress MLA Sunder Singh Thakur had been demanding Kullu Dusshera on the grounds that when Shivratri Fair of Mandi could be organised, why not the Dusshera festival of Kullu.

Thakur directed officers to complete all preparations related to the festival in time and to ensure proper security, uninterrupted electricity, and adherence of

Covid-19 guidelines

.

It was also decided in the meeting that language, art and culture department would provide an additional amount of Rs 10 lakh to Kullu district administration for organising the festival. “The state government is committed to conserving these fairs and festivals. We have been taking steps. Kullu Dussehra is not only known across the state, but globally,” he siad. “This is a reflection of our religious beliefs and cultural values.”

Education, language and art culture (LAC) minister Govind Singh Thakur detailed the meeting with district-level committees.

MLA Surender Shourie, HPMC vice-chairman Ram Singh, former MP Maheshwar Singh, were among the people who attended the event.
