‘Tateeree’ song row: Haryana cops tell high court LOC withdrawn, no action against rapper Badshah
CHANDIGARH: Haryana police on Thursday informed Punjab and Haryana high court that the lookout circular (LOC) issued against rapper Badshah had been withdrawn and they will not take any action against him on the basis of the March 13 order passed by Haryana State Commission for Women over his controversial song ‘Tateeree'. After hearing the state's reply, Justice Jagmohan Bansal disposed of the petition filed by Badshah.
Badshah, aka Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, had moved HC, seeking directions to set aside the women's commission notice / order to Panipat SP to register an FIR and arrest him in connection with a summons dated March 6.
The FIR was registered on March 6 at cybercrime police station, Panchkula, under Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act 1986 and BNS. On Thursday. Badshah's counsel told the court that he was issued a summons on March 6 by the women's commission in connection with a complaint on the song.
His legal representative appeared before the commission and requested a ‘reasonable time' for appearance as he is a singer. The state counsel, on instructions from Panchkula cybercell SHO, submitted in court that the lookout circular issued against Badshah the petitioner stands withdrawn.
On instructions of Panipat SP, he said police were not going to take any action on the basis of the March 13 order by Haryana State Commission for Women. The petitioner has already joined the investigation at Panchkula. After hearing the reply, the singer's counsel did not press for the petition and the bench ordered to dispose of the matter.
