CHANDIGARH: Students of the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) for the first time will get a chance to work in the live laboratory of a company that would enable them to get their queries related to research, design and application addressed. Students of master of engineering and Ph.D of the institute will be allowed to work in this lab with the Tech Mahindra set up in IT park Chandigarh.
Dr C Rama Krishna, professor of the department of computer science and engineering said that the institute is going to sign a Memorandum of Understanding next week with the company in the campus. By January the lab services of the company will be open for the students.
As many as 15 students of the engineering departments of the campus including three each from mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electronics and communication engineering, computer sciences and electrical engineering have been short listed by the department. He said that the company will conduct an interview of these students and the final list will be prepared.
He said this year the number of applications was less as the lab is open in the middle of the session but the authorities are expecting that in the next session scheduled in July, 2018, more students will apply to avail this opportunity.
The students will be utilising this service free of cost and will have two supervisors, one from the campus and the other from the company staff to monitor the work.
Dr C Rama Krishna said that initially the students from the NITTTR will be allowed to conduct the research work in the labs. Later, students from eight states and one Union Territory can also be allowed if the companies want more experts on the issues.
