ANANDPUR SAHIB: Thousand of devotees, including Nihang Sikhs started to pour in at Anandpur Sahib on Thursday to attend the inaugural ceremony of Khalsa heritage complex, which would be opened to public on November 25, 13 years after its foundation stone was laid.
Massive cleanliness drive has been launched in the town for the last couple of days and the historic "Virasat e Khalsa" and Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib have been decorated with lights and flowers.
Six temporary helipads have been constructed for VVIPs arrival.
For devotees, arrangements have been made at many places for the food and bedding, besides community kitchen everywhere, including the approach roads to Anandpur Sahib to offer traditional foods and sweets.
Meanwhile, the Punjab police has made elaborate security arrangements to check any untoward incident during the ceremonial day.
One senior Punjab police official said, 3000 cops, including 300 women constables from seven districts of Punjab in which 12 SSPS, 20 SPs, 70 DSPs, 315 inspectors and 3000 NGOs have been deployed.
The health department also made special arrangements in case of any eventually for this purpose, Senior medical officer Dr Darshan Singh told that 21 medical teams have been pressed into service and each team includes a doctor, nurse, a driver and an ambulance.
