Need for thorough probe into Op Bluestar: CM Mann

Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday underlined the need for a thorough probe into the events surrounding the 1984 Operation Blue Star, questioning the handling of the operation.He also sought legal action, including registration of FIRs against the govts at the helm during that time. Mann said during the military action, no consideration appears to have been given to religious sentiments or the sanctity of the religious site.Mann was speaking during the special session of the Punjab assembly after finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema sought a debate in the House on Nakodar police firing on Feb 4, 1986, in which four unarmed youths were killed in Jalandhar.MSID:: 130682737 413 |
