CHANDIGARH: Former
Punjab Congress
chief
Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday said that the state government lacks the political will to break the drug nexus in the state.
He also shared a video of a purported drug peddler taking money for selling drugs in Faridkot, bringing the local police to action to arrest the accused.
Sidhu tweeted, “STF report and Hon’ble High Court have, on multiple occasions, observed that a nexus between Drug peddlers, Police and Politician exists, which is yet to be broken. Political will absent... Ramifications clearly evident …. Somewhere in Faridkot…”
SSP Faridkot Avneet Kaur Sidhu (a former Olympian) later tweeted, “Taking immediate action, the accused has been arrested under relevant sections. Faridkot Police is fully committed in its fight against drugs.”
Sidhu reacted by tweeting, “ The prompt action is much appreciated… Keep up the good work to save our next generation…Good to see a sportswoman leading by example…”
