Nabha jailbreak: Haridwar Police looking for two suspects who jumped parole
times news network
Roorkee: Suspecting their involvement in the last month’s Nabha jailbreak, Haridwar Police have launched a massive search operation to trace two inmates of Punjab jails, who had come to their houses in Roorkee on a parole last year, but are missing since then.
Police suspect that the accused, Ankit Chaudhary of Libberheri village and Resham Singh of Gaddarjudda village near Roorkee, may be involved in the last month’s attack to free the jailbirds in Punjab.
Both were lodged in Punjab's Patiala jails. Nabha jail is also in Patiala district.
On December 1, a bag containing uniforms of Punjab police was found floating in the upper Ganga canal in Mangalore area, 10 km from Roorkee on the Delhi-Haridwar National Highway. After that, police had earmarked two locals, who were out on parole from Punjab jail, but were found to be missing.
“There were two persons from different villages of Manglaur who were released from Patiala jails on a parole for one month last year. Since then, they did not report to concerned jail authorities and are still missing,” SP (rural) Manikant Mishra told TOI.
As Nabha jail also falls in Patiala district, police suspect a nexus between the accused of Nabha jailbreak and the two locals.
Police, however, did not provide further details of those missing persons.
In a sensational jailbreak, chief of Khalistan Liberation Front Harminder Mintoo along with five other prisoners had escaped after armed men in police uniform stormed the high-security Nabha prison in Punjab in November.
