CHANDIGARH: Fathers are role models, loving, protective figures enlivening their children's minds with inspiration. When it comes to daughters, they rally towards their little girls with all the emotional, intellectual and spiritual support only a dad can give. As every dad's darling out there would know, such support need not be embellished with words.

Small but significant gestures like cleaning the cycle for first day in college or staying up late at night with the daughter before the exams are enough to forge a lifelong bond.
Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June, which falls on June 16, this year. It is time to celebrate the undying bond with your father.
Arvinder Kaur, a well known writer of Haiku shared, "Now I realize how beautiful my childhood was. My father is my mentor and he will always be the one. Whoever I am today is all thanks to him. When I was young, I use to go to college on my bicycle and my dad used to clean it every morning before I went to college. He guided me throughout my childhood and in every phase of life. Punctuality, discipline, gentleness and most of all the skill of writing is what I have learnt from him."
Divya Talwar, a city-based physiotherapist also attributes her success to her father.
"Someone said that there's a woman behind every successful man. I feel the success of every daughter is because of her father. My dad has been guiding me since childhood, holding my finger at every step.
When I joined medical college, I was low on confidence but he made sure I snapped out of it and emerged as a strong, confident person. Whenever I am in trouble, he is the one to solve my problems," she said.

According to city based writer and professor Neelkamal Puri, "My father bought me up in a very unusual way. I could talk to him about anything. He never discriminated between me and my brother. He never allowed me to work in the kitchen and always motivated me to study hard and be independent. He always wanted me to reach great heights. I worked hard to fulfill his dream. I have written a book, 'Remember to forget', which is dedicated to him. I wrote it to immortalize him."
This father's day, you could also give an out-of-the-box gift to your dad. "The t-shirts with quotes 'You are the best dad' or 'the most bhayankar dad but the cutest of all' is a good gift option. I have bought a shirt for him which reads, 'You are the best.' It is black in colour," said Vinita Vasundhara, a student at a Sector 10 college.
"My dad is an athletic person so I have bought a hockey set which I am going to send him. I will miss his cute smile as I will not be there with him to see him receive the gift," said Surabhi Bhandauria, a hostel student at Punjab Engineering College.
